Keep separate fields
Jacket material describes the construction. Fire/smoke performance and listings describe tested requirements. A label such as LSZH must not silently populate an OFNR or OFNP field.
Read the exact assembly record
Check the required installation environment against the cable's actual listing and supporting document. As a concrete illustration, a published Belden LSZH construction lists separate IEC tests and states that it is non-UL-rated; the material name alone does not identify a UL rating.
Preserve what is unresolved
Record material, required rating and verified rating separately. If evidence is missing, leave the rating unspecified and hold the selection for confirmation. Site requirements and applicable installation rules need their own review; this guide does not certify an installation.
In practice / Worked example
Material and qualification are separate fields.
Belden GCDHO236 illustrates why an LSZH description cannot fill in a missing installation rating.
| Datasheet field | Published entry |
|---|---|
| Jacket construction | LSZH |
| IEC flammability | IEC 60332-1-2 |
| Bundle flame test | IEC 60332-3-22 |
| Halogen amount | Zero under IEC 60754-1 |
| UL rating / flame test | Non-UL Rated |
For an OFNP requirement, this record does not establish the needed qualification. Retain three separate values: required rating OFNP; documented material LSZH; qualification not established by this datasheet. This is a source-reading example, not a WBN offering or an installation recommendation.
